What is Angarak Dosh?

The most common name for Mars (Mangal) was Angarak. In ancient times, Mangal Dosh was also known as Angarak Dosh. Mars in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 12th houses of the horoscope was called Angarak Dosha, and the birthplace of Mars was called Shri Angareshwar. Previously, there was no temple named Mangal in Ujjain, but with the passage of time, Angarak Dosha became Mangal Dosha. Look at the change in time; during the rainy season, the main place of Mars, Shri Angareshwar, would be submerged in water during floods. Those who came to Ujjain to worship Mangal Dosha (Angarak Dosha) would return home disappointed, as worship of Mars is not valid without Bhaat Pooja. Therefore, the TRUST had to build another temple for Mars for the devotees, and ultimately, that new temple was named Mangalnath Temple. Most people don't know that Mangal Dosha and Angarak Dosha are the same thing, yet some astrologers have separated Angarak Dosha and Mangal Dosha.

Types of Angarak Dosh

Although Mangal Dosha and Angarak Dosha are the same thing, nowadays people have started calling the conjunction of Mars with Rahu or Ketu as Angarak Dosha, whereas the names of both are as follows:

Rahu Mangal Angarak Dosha—Rahu Mangal Angarak is the first type of Angarak Dosha. However, this is not an Angarak Dosha but a Rahu Mangal Angarak Dosha. When Mars and Rahu are in conjunction in any of the 12 houses of the horoscope, it is considered very dangerous because, according to astrology, both Rahu and Mars are malefic planets, with Mars symbolizing courage and Rahu symbolizing audacity. When these two malefic planets are in conjunction in any house of the horoscope, the person can become extremely short-tempered and self-harming. Such people do not hesitate to commit daring acts. And if both Rahu & Mangal are in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th houses of the horoscope, many people also call it Double Manglik. The position of Mars and Rahu in these houses can lead to divorce between husband and wife or even indicate multiple marriages.

Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosha—This is another type of Angarak Dosha called Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosha. When there is a conjunction of Ketu and Mars in any house of the horoscope, it is called Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosha. According to astrology, both Ketu and Mars are considered inauspicious and sinful planets. While Mars is the commander of the nine planets, Ketu represents contemplation and depth. If the conjunction of these two planets occurs in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house, then many people consider it a double Manglik Dosha, like the Rahu Mangal conjunction, which can lead to the downfall of married life, differences between husband and wife, physical pain to one of them, departure of one of the husband and wife, or distance between the two.

How to perform Angarak Dosh Nivaran Puja?

The types of Angarak Dosha Puja, also known as Mangal Dosha, have been described above. However, whenever Mars is combined with a highly sinful planet like Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, it spoils not only the Mars in the horoscope but also the Mars in life. Just think, Mars is said to be the commander of the planets. Now, if any sinful planet tries to dominate the commander, the commander's nature changes. Similarly, when Rahu or Ketu tries to eclipse Mars or tries to swallow it, the nine planets of the person also start to stir, and Mars in life gets eclipsed. Therefore, whenever there is Rahu Mangal Angarak Dosh or Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosh in someone's horoscope: the process of removing that Dosh is not a common one but a special method. Whenever there is Angarak Dosh in a person's horoscope, its pacification should be done through a special method that includes 40,000 chants of Mars (Om Kran Kreem Kraum Sah Bhoumaay Namah) and at least 18,000 chants of Rahu and a maximum of 72,000 chants (Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhraum Sah Rahve Namah). And if there is Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosh, then 40,000 chants of Mars. (Om Kram Kreem Kraum Sah Bhoumay Namah), and at least 17,000 chants of Ketu and a maximum of 68,000 chants (Om Kem Ketave Namah) should be done during the Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosh Nivaran Puja. Whenever a person has this type of Angarak Dosh in their horoscope, always keep in mind that this is not a common defect but a special type of defect, and relief from this defect can be obtained only through a special type of worship and some special remedies.

Where should the Angarak Dosh Puja be performed?

For the worship of Angarak Dosh, different people advise performing the puja at different places according to their own wisdom. Some people say that due to Rahu Dosh, the puja should be performed at the riverbank, and some people advise performing this puja at your home or nearby. But always remember that if there is any kind of defect related to Mars in the horoscope, then the puja for the removal of this defect should be performed at the main place of Mars.

Ujjain has two temples dedicated to Mars. One of these is the Shri Angareshwar Temple, the primary site of Mars' birth and the place where the first Mangal Dosha puja (worship) began. Therefore, whenever a horoscope contains Mangal Dosha, Rahu Mangal Angarak Dosha, or Ketu Mangal Angarak Dosha, it is recommended to worship at this site first. If this temple is submerged in floodwaters, this puja can also be performed at the Mangalnath Temple. The Mangalnath Temple is Ujjain's second Mars temple and was established because when the main temple, Shri Angareshwar Temple, was submerged, people had to return without performing the puja. A Mangal worship without rice is not considered complete. Therefore, in such adverse circumstances, worship can also be performed at the Mangalnath Temple.
